Founder, Shopgirls Gallery Boutique
Michelle has over 10 years experience as an Advertising Manager for premier Canadian fashion department stores, Holt Renfrew and Hudson’s Bay Company. However, her love of independent, Canadian designed fashion led to hosting her own arts and crafts shows (nowadays referred to as Pop Ups) and later founding her own store: Shopgirls Gallery Boutique in 2007 that exclusively sells Canadian designed goods.
Located in Toronto’s Parkdale Village, Shopgirls is a boutique that celebrates women of all shapes and sizes. Their Shop Your Shape philosophy focuses on dressing women based on their body shapes, with carefully curated pieces for every shape to make women look and feel great! Featuring over 80 of the best up-and-coming and reputable Canadian clothing & accessory designers, the Shopgirls team offers expert advice on shopping your shape, not your size. Michelle splits her time between running Shopgirls, offering styling consultations for high-profile customers, and travelling to key Canadian fashion showcases to meet with the latest designers.
In 2015, Michelle expanded her fashion expertise and body positivity into co-creating the fashion brand Ninety-Eight that focuses on fitting the 98% of women’s body types that are ignored by the fashion industry. Ninety-Eight is carried in stores across Canada, celebrating the woman who is perfectly happy with her imperfections.
