Melissa is currently studying at the University of Toronto, specializing in Equity and Women and Gender Studies. Her academics are the foundation for her passion towards working for a more sustainable future. With a commitment to sustainability and ethical treatment of all humans and animals, Melissa is committed to social justice, human rights and humanitarian action.
She possess cross-sectoral experience in social justice, human rights, fashion and policy development. She has over 6 years of experience in Human Resources for a multi-national organization, developing regional and global policies that help ensure employees receive fair and just treatment by employers. Recognizing the huge impact of the fashion industry on workers and the environment, she is passionate about issues regarding the moral obligation to future generations with respect to human rights and the environment.
When Melissa is not writing a paper or updating policies, she is pursuing her interest in photography and blogging. She currently has a sustainability blog that informs people on the ways they can make more mindful decisions on how they consume food, fashion and home décor.
