Body positivity refers to the assertion that all people deserve to have a positive body image, regardless of how society and popular culture view the ideal shape, size, and appearance. Not only are we diverse in our bodies, but in many other ways, including the colour of our skin. The fashion industry and media have a long way to go yet in being representative of our diversity. This one-hour live virtual workshop will help students build confidence and self acceptance, and how fashion can be a great tool of empowerment. Students will learn about our current fashion culture, the psychology of being ‘in fashion’ and the difference between personal style & fashion through a sketchbook exercise, a research activity, and a positive style log.
