A great activity to declutter our wardrobe and truly understand the value of our clothes Take care of clothing items so that they have a better resale value (laundry care, remove stains, repair etc) Research different ways to resell your clothing in your neighborhood community (FB marketplaces, local shops), and second-hand consignment platforms (e.g. ThredUp, Poshmark) Check your favorite brand for buy back programs too. More and more retail shops are starting up a second hand merchandise programs Repurpose * Crop, embroider, distress, or patch something to give it new life Make a scrunchie, tote bag or other accessory out of unused textiles Do a Pinterest search on DIY ideas and how to upcycle clothing Repair * Replace lost buttons; repair broken hems, ripped seams, holey-toed socks Watch YouTube tutorials to learn how to improve sewing and mending skills Support the tailors, alterations and shoe repair places in your area Rent * Use a service (such as Fitzroy Rentals, Reheart or Beyond the Runway) to rent an item you would otherwise have limited use for (eg. formal dresses) Search for local peer to peer rental and swapping apps active in your area Find online community groups for swapping clothes. If there aren't any, start one!
