Join the FTA Creator Community

Anyone interested in supporting our non-profit organization can join the FTA Creator Community!

If you are a Canadian high school student then you have the added benefit of supporting our cause, raising awareness for the environmental benefits of buying secondhand, by becoming an FTA Creator and turning your thrifting videos into volunteer hours!

How to Become an FTA Creator

Do you love thrifting? Become an FTA Creator!

First, shoot a video on TikTok or Instagram about your commitment to secondhand fashion and why you think it is good for the environment.

Next, be sure to tag @fashiontakesaction and use #IAmAThrifter in your post.

If you’re selected, you’ll receive a message from our official @fashiontakesaction account inviting you to support us in raising awareness, as an FTA Creator!

FTA Creator Rules

  1. Each FTA Creator must share one video per month, highlighting why thrifting is good for the planet, on their personal Instagram/TikTok account.
  2. Submit your content for review by tagging @fashiontakesaction and use #IAmAThrifter in your post.
  3. If you are a Canadian high school student in need of volunteer hours, complete your school’s Community Volunteer Hour form to show the hours you spent making your video. Send to IAmAThrifter@fashiontakesaction.com and FTA will review and authorize.

FAQs

Anyone can apply to become an FTA Creator – there’s no limit! High schoolers get the added benefit of being able to submit their content towards their volunteer hours.

We recommend videos that are about 30 seconds long, but shorter is great too!

We recommend doing an online search for local secondhand stores in your area, and to check out this page for some online resources.

Use the FTA website to learn more about sustainable fashion, follow us on Instagram (@fashiontakesaction), and sign up for our newsletter to get the ‘Inside Scoop’ on sustainable fashion news.

Thank you for your support! If you’re unable to volunteer further, contact IAmAThrifter@fashiontakesaction.com to let us know. We wish you the best!
