James Yurichuk is the CEO of the first animal-free and sustainable parka brand to be proudly manufactured in Canada. A former CFL player, Wuxly began when James Yurichuk, moved from the west coast’s British Columbia Lions to join the Toronto Argonauts. Joining him was his girlfriend Daniela, who was born in Brazil and wasn’t keen on Toronto’s cold winters. In his search for the perfect parka for her, James could not find anything that aligned with his values around protecting animals and the environment.
Noticing the quality of Canadian-made jackets, James saw an opportunity to evolve Canada’s rich manufacturing heritage by utilizing innovative and sustainable fabrics while peacefully leaving animals out of the equation. Established in 2015, the Wuxly Movement began– a commitment to reshore Canadian manufacturing and create warmth through sustainably made outerwear.
The couple currently lives together in Toronto with their four children. Still focused on
sports, James spends his downtime coaching his son’s hockey team. James looks forward to spreading the warmth for many years to come.
